Vegan Sloppy Joes

 Long live the Sloppy Joe! This recipe is here to ensure that vegans everywhere can enjoy the feel-good satisfaction of a good ol’ sloppy joe! It’s easy to make, and is a hit with the taste buds!

Equipment:

  • Frying pan

Ingredients:

  • Salt: 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper: 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard: 2 tbsp
  • Soy sauce: 1 tbsp
  • Sugar: 1 tsp
  • Chili powder: 2 tsp
  • Green peppers (small-medium sized): 2
  • Tomato sauce: 1 and 1/2 cups
  • Onions (small): 2-4
  • Textured soy protein: 1 and 1/2 cups
  • Boiling water: 1 and 1/2 cup

 

Directions:

  • Saute the peppers and onions in the frying pan with the water
  • Once they are mostly cooked, mix in the other ingredients, stirring well
  • While stirring occasionally, allow the mixture to cook for approx 20 minutes. Keep covered

 

Although this is a Sloppy Joe recipe, we also love serving it over rice!
